Madhushala : a therapy to your mind

Madhushala, which means "The Tavern", was written by Harivansh Rai Bachan in 1935. It is considered to be an important milestone in the history of Hindi literature.

A highly metaphorical composition, it is quite popular even today due to its underlying philosophical qualities. It can act as a therapy to your mind whenever you need it.

As the wiki page says :
The poet tries to explain the complexity of life with his four instruments, which appear in almost every verse: madhumadira or haala (wine), saaki (server), pyaala (cup or glass) and of course madhushala.
Each stanza ends with the word Madhushala.

Out of total 135 verses, selected 35 verses have been sung by Manna Dey.

Here are the links to both:

Here is an explanation of the first rubai(stanza) :

In the search of his destination, the drinker leaves his home.

He notices that there many paths to his destination and he is too innocent to decide which path to choose.
Everybody tells him to choose a different path.
But I tell him to choose one path and keep walking straight, he'll get to the madhushala.

Some of favourite lines from the poem are :
> Mai shiv ki pratima ban baithun,
    Mandir ho ye madhushala

> Har surat saaki ki surat me parivartit ho jaati
Ankhon k aage ho kuch bhi, aankhon me hai madhushala

> Duniya walo kintu kisi din aa madiralaya me dekho,
din ko holi, raat diwali, roz manati madhushala

>  Pathik pyaar se peena isko

    phir na milegi madhushala

I am sure you would be tempted to listen to the poem after reading the above lines :).

Cheers.

Android Tip : Handling back button in Fragments

Android Tip : Handling hardware back button in Fragment and DialogFragment This post explains how to handle hardware back button in a Fragment OR DialogFragment . In DialogFragment, it’s quiet straight forward to achieve this. You’ve to get the dialog instance and set onKeyListener on it : if (getDialog() != null ) { getDialog().setOnKeyListener( new DialogInterface.OnKeyListener() { @Override public boolean onKey (DialogInterface dialog, int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if (event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_UP && keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) { Timber.i( "hardware back button pressed" ); } } }); } This can be done in the onViewCreated callback. For fragments, this method doesn’t work and fragments doesn’t have a direct callback to catch this event. So in this case, the approach that we follow is : You
